Rs 10 lakh relief to family of man killed in 2011 flash floods

More than one and a half years after Binoy Mohan Das,a resident of Guwahati,died after he was washed away by flash floods in 2011,the Assam Human Rights Commission on Thursday directed the Assam government to pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to his next of kin.

More than one and a half years after Binoy Mohan Das,a resident of Guwahati,died after he was washed away by flash floods in 2011,the Assam Human Rights Commission on Thursday directed the Assam government to pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to his next of kin. A division bench of the AHRC comprising of Justice (Retd) Aftab Hussain Saikia and member Tarun Phukan in its order said Das,who was then superintendent of the Kamrup district treasury,had died after he fell into an unguarded drain on RG Baruah Road on October 21,when the city was in the grip of floods due to a heavy downpour.
