The Supreme Court on Thursday disapproved a proposal by the Chhattisgarh government to have schools functioning in alternative sites so as not to disturb paramilitary personnel occupying current ones at Naxal-hit areas in the state. “We are not going to buy this argument. You have to vacate the schools,” a Bench of Justices B Sudershan Reddy and S S Nijjar dismissed the state submission that it was substituting the school buildings billeted with security forces.

The court has consistently urged the state to free schools from security personnel so that the children may continue with their education.
