Reinduction of Kitchloo sparks protests,bandh in Jammu

The 48-hour bandh call was given by the BJP.

Re-induction of Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo as Minister of State for Home in Omar Abdullah’s government evoked protests from the members of Hindu community who observed a bandh at places in Jammu region on Monday.

The 48-hour bandh call was given by the BJP. Kitchloo,who had four months ago resigned in the wake of allegations about his role in Kishtwar communal violence,was sworn-in as Minister of State by Governor N N Vohra and restored all the portfolios held by him earlier. Three people were killed and over 60 were injured in the communal violence in Kishtwar.

Hindus closed their business establishments in Kishtwar town and its surrounding areas,Jammu city,Kathua and Udhampur towns.
