After inducting two members of Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) on January 19,Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has turned to Telangana with two MLAs from the region and one from Coastal Andhra to fill three vacancies in his Cabinet. The Congress high command has given the go-ahead for filling up these three vacancies caused by resignation of two ministers and dropping of Textile Minister P Shankara Rao last month but has not agreed to the CMs demand to expand the Cabinet.
Jupalli Krishna Rao who was Food and Civil Supplies Minister and Komatireddy Venkata Reddy who was Ports and Infrastructure Minister had resigned earlier in protest against delay in formation of Telangana state. P Shankara Rao who was Textile Minister was dropped for his outbursts against the CM.
Replacing them will be N Uttam Kumar Reddy,MLA from Huzurnagar,Prasad Kumar,Vikarabad,Ranga Reddy district and Kondru Murali MLA from Rajam,Srikakulam district. There was some consternation among Telangana leaders as the CM has allotted one berth to coastal Andhra district of Srikakulam although the two ministers who quit and Shankar Rao were all from Telangana.
Governor E S L Narasimhan administered the oath to the three new ministers on Monday evening at Raj Bhavan.
