The body of Ranjodh Singh,resident of Nabha in Punjab,whose half-burnt body was found in Griffith in Australia last month,will be sent to New Delhi on January 29.
Ranjodhs brother Satnam Singh said on Wednesday that the Indian High Commission in Australia and the Ministry of External Affairs had said the body will arrive on a Thai Airlines flight Saturday morning. Satnam said the body will be brought to Nabha the same day and cremated Sunday.
Ranjodhs was killed on December 29 his family says the murder was racially motivated but Australian authorities doubt if that was the case and the body found three days later. He picked pumpkins in Griffith and shared a house with farm workers from India.
External Affairs Ministry has given Rs 2.5 lakh as ex-gratia to Ranjodhs family. MoS External Affairs Preneet Kaur handed over the cheque to the family.
