While party president Singh said that the Centre lacked conviction to combat terrorism,Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Jaitley alleged that the Congress was practising vote bank politics at the expense of internal security. Both the leaders said that there was a need for a comprehensive policy to tackle terrorism and Naxalism.
Singh, however, refrained from attacking Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. There should be no politics over terror attack. But there has to be better coordination between the Central intelligence agencies and the state government. I have prayed to Lord Buddha for peace. Mahabodhi Temple is our international identity, Singh said.
Later at Patna,Singh said that the Centre should have taken adequate steps after the Myanmar incident, and when there was specific intelligence input regarding attack on Bodhgaya nine months ago,it could have established better coordination with the state government to avert the attack. The attack has shaken the confidence of people. It is time the Centre took effective steps to restore faith of the foreign tourists, he said.
