As the voices for a clarification on the snooping row become louder in political circles,Congress MP Priya Dutt on Saturday said that a thorough investigation should be conducted in the case to bring out the truth about the surveillance of a woman architect in 2009 by the Gujarat Police on the alleged instructions of Amit Shah,a close aide of Gujarat CM Narendra Modi.
Speaking on the sidelines of an event in Vadodara,Dutt said that the Gujarat government is accused of using public money to stalk a woman, which calls for a complete investigation. Dutt was in Vadodara to inaugurate the IT workshop for Congress workers.
Instead of being silent on this matter, the Gujarat government must initiate an independent probe. Otherwise,a retired or sitting SC judge should be asked to investigate into this. It is not a matter to be silent on, she said.
The issue clearly revolves around encroachment of a womans privacy and more so the use of public money to do so…The people of Gujarat must ask this question to the government here, she added.
