Slain pradhan Nanhe Yadav’s family has started a fast unto death at Balipur village in Pratapgarh, alleging apathetic attitude of the CBI which is investigating the murders of DSP Ziaul Haque, the pradhan and his brother Suresh. The family members, who began the fast on Thursday, have demanded that the CBI director should come and talk to them.

Pradhan’s brother Pawan said on Friday his 65-year-old father Dukhi Ram’s condition is deteriorating, but none from the district administration or the CBI has visited them so far. He also said they will continue the agitation till April 12.

He said he had dispatched a complaint to the CBI director through speed-post and e-mail on Friday morning. Copies of the complaint had also been faxed to the Prime Minister’s office,Chief Minister,ADG (Law & Order) and the district magistrate and the SP of Pratapgarh.

He has also handed over a copy of the complaint to Kunda sub-divisional magistrate (SDM).

Pawan said he had written to the CBI director that the officials heading the investigating team and camping in Pratapgarh had refused to initiate any action into the complaint related to former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya and his aides threatening his family members.

Pawan had handed over the complaint to CBI last month alleging that Raja Bhaiyya and his aides were threatening him and his family members that they should not speak against the former minister and his men before the agency.

He had also mentioned the instances of alleged harassment of Nanhe Yadav and his brother Suresh by Raja Bhaiyya and his aides since 2003.

He said the CBI then had assured them for getting an FIR lodged against Raja Bhaiyya and others. But they had now refused to intervene and have asked them to go to the local police.

In the fresh complaint sent to the CBI director,Pawan has said an official in the investigating team had told his brother Sudhir to withdraw the complaint against Raja Bhaiyya,as his family will otherwise land in trouble after the CBI left Pratapgarh.
