Piramal Enterprises today said its healthcare vertical has tied up with Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies for co-operation in biopharmaceuticals for developing new therapies,including that of cancer.
As part of the alliance,the partners will collaborate in the contract development and manufacture of antibody drug conjugates ADCs,a growing niche in the development of biopharmaceuticals.
“Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies has a long track- record in delivering successful biologics programmes,and this alliance will combine strengths from both companies for the benefit of our customers,and ultimately patients,” Piramal Enterprises Executive Director amp; COO Vijay Shah said in a statement.
Commenting on the development,Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies Commercial Vice President Stephen Taylor said: “This strategic alliance with Piramal is an important step for us in bringing a new,high-technology offering to the market place”.
The two partners have a combined experience covering work on more than 150 biopharmaceuticals and over 300 batches of ADCs spanning over more than 30 different NCEs,including the world’s only FDA-approved ADC.
“Our customers will benefit from high quality,consistent material,rapid service and shorter logistical chains,saving time on the critical path of drug development,” Taylor said. Diversified conglomerate Piramal Enterprises has presence in pharmaceutical,financial services and information management sectors.
Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies is among the leading biologics contract development and manufacturing organisations with experience in the development and manufacturing of recombinant proteins,vaccines,monoclonal antibodies,among others.
Shares of Piramal Enterprises today closed at Rs 492.20 apiece on the BSE,down 0.50 per cent from their previous close.
