PIO alleges discrimination by Harvard

The unnamed Indian-American student,who was among the top students in his California high school class,filed the complaint against the two institutions.

An Indian-origin student has alleged racial discrimination by two prestigious American universities —Harvard and Princeton — in their admission policy,prompting a probe by US authorities.

The unnamed Indian-American student,who was among the top students in his California high school class,filed the complaint against the two institutions.

Acting on the complaint,the US Education Department is probing whether Harvard and Princeton Universities discriminate against Asian-Americans in undergraduate admissions,Bloomberg reported Friday.

The department’s Office for Civil Rights is investigating a complaint it received in August that Harvard rejected an Asian-American candidate for the current freshman class based on race or national origin,a department spokesman said. Princeton too denied the allegations in a statement .
