The BJP on Sunday was hopeful of an early resolution to the stalemate in the party, triggered by the appointment of Sudhanshu Mittal as the Prabhari for the North-East.
Sources in the party claimed the compromise formula could be arrived at before the partys central election committee meets next on March 17,when Bihar (a state where Arun Jaitley worked out the seat sharing arrangement with the ally, the JD-U) is discussed.
Meanwhile,Sunday was abuzz with meetings. Leaders, including party president Rajnath Singh,Jaitley,Sushma Swaraj and Ram Lal met at the residence of L K Advani early in the day to discuss the Delhi seats again. They stayed back for a video shoot for the partys election campaign. Jaitley also attended a publicity committee meeting in the afternoon.
Mittal met Ram Lal during the day. The party list for Assam could be declared on Monday, said sources. A couple of other leaders from the Parivar, including M Venkaiah Naidu, were said to be in touch with him. Those in the know said at least three different proposals were being considered to resolve the deadlock in the party.
