A Jaipur court on Friday rejected the bail application of Seema Singh, accused of abducting and sexually exploiting a 22-year-old girl in January last year. Seema,21,was left paralysed from waist-down in 2011 when she attempted suicide by jumping in front of a train after three policemen allegedly sexually abused her. Her parents said that they will appeal in the Rajasthan High Court.
Jaipur Additional District Judge Anita Sharma rejected Singhs bail application on Friday.
The honourable judge stated that it was a serious case and denied bail without giving any particular reason, said advocate A K Jain, who appeared on Seemas behalf. Her father,Shivdan Singh, said that they would apply for bail in the High Court.
Peoples Union for Civil Liberties general secretary Kavita Srivastava termed the rejection of bail as unfortunate. The right of bail is denied on two main grounds,if the accused can tamper with evidence or if the accused will escape. Seema is 80 per cent paralysed and is capable of doing neither, Srivastava told The Indian Express.
