A person working in Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s grievance cell has been sacked on charges of seeking sexual favours from a complainant as a condition for letting her meet the chief minister.

The CM’s office said K P Girish Kumar, who was working on contract basis at the grievance cell, has been removed on the basis of a complaint that he had talked to a complainant in an indecent manner. The woman had complained to the CM’s office, which ordered a probe by the general administration department. Based on the probe report,he was removed from the cell.

The woman,a government employee in Kollam, had called up the grievance cell a few months back in connection with her transfer. Kumar, who attended the call, collected her details and later made calls to her.

In her complaint, the woman said Kumar sought sexual favours from her to facilitate a meeting with the Chief Minister. Besides, her mobile number was handed over to two other persons, who also made calls to her. As the harassment continued, she complained to the Chief Minister, who ordered a probe.

Although the CM’s office said that Kumar was not a member of his personal staff, the government directory of 2012 shows he was a clerk at the CM’s office.
