They are calling her the only hero among the heroines. Last checked, even the heroes were keeping an interested eye on the collections of her latest,The Dirty Picture. Vidya Balan is the reigning diva of the marquee. She has the box office chips, the critical acclaim, and the fan following. Undoubtedly she is the current flavour of the nation. On Tuesday evening, she will be the guest at Express Adda in the capital.
Balan will be in conversation with the cream of discerning Delhi an informal, freewheeling interaction that is now established as the hallmark of the Adda,a unique series of conversations with individuals at the centre of change in our times.
The Adda series began on August 19 in Delhi with global marketing and ad guru Martin Sorrell, travelled to Mumbai in September to host superstar Shah Rukh Khan, and returned to Delhi in October for Pulitizer Prize winning The New York Times columnist Thomas L. Friedman. Earlier this month,Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was the Adda guest in Mumbai.
Balan, the fifth guest at Adda,is looking forward to being part of a concept she likes. In Bengali, when friends sit together, they call it an adda. I like the informality, the casual vibe of this initiative by The Indian Express. I am looking forward to interact with interesting people in Delhi. I am excited, because I love conversations that one can take back something from, she said.
Balan is particularly happy the Adda is in Delhi. I love Delhi during winter,so whenever I get a chance to visit,I grab it, she said.
The actor who is currently dubbing for her forthcoming film,Kahani, has constantly taken the uncharted route and raised the bar in her six-year film career. She played mother to Amitabh Bachchan with the same ease as the fiery femme fatale who knew her way around men and guns in Ishqiya. This year, she has been outstanding playing two real-life people,Sabrina Lal in No One Killed Jessica and Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture.
Balan, who began her journey with TV commercials, music videos and an appearance in Ekta Kapoors TV serial Hum Paanch, got her big film break in Pradeep Sarkars Parineeta. Lage Raho Munnabhai crystallised her status at the box office. Now,with the nation crooning Ooh la la,tu hai meri fantasy, the Balan wave seems to have only just begun.
