ONGC’s Assam Asset, the oldest operation area of the PSU,has increased its oil and gas output during 2012-13 despite serious constraints like ageing oilfields, depleting reservoir pressure and adverse weather conditions.

“Our performance has been quite satisfying although we faced unprecedented monsoon and floods which had badly affected our production during the year,” said BK Baruah, executive director in charge of the Assam Asset here on Friday.

This is the third consecutive year when ONCL’s oldest oilfields met all its targets.

While the Assam Asset registered crude oil production of 1.223 million metric tonnes during 2012-13 against 1.202 million metric tonnes in the previous fiscal,it recorded an over-achievement in natural gas production by touching 472.2 million metric standard cubic meters (MMSCM) against a target of 452.2 MMSCM.
