No pro-Eelam resolution at meet: Karuna

With the Centre reportedly making clear its displeasure to M Karunanidhi over a move to revive the politics surrounding the demand for an independent homeland for Sri Lankan Tamils by an umbrella group he heads,the DMK chief Monday said a conference to be held here on August 12 won’t adopt any resolution in this regard.

The Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation has no plans of moving a resolution at the meet,Karunanidhi said,rejecting reports that he was under pressure from the Centre. He said the first priority of the organisation was to protect the Tamils in Sri Lanka who have faced the brunt of the war between the LTTE and the government forces,provide them succour and help them improve their lives.
