Yash and Raj Ambani (Sanjay Dutt and Akshaye Khanna) share a surname but are not brothers and please note their names. Raj wants to go straight, but Yash is an incurable con-man-cum-thief. They loot a banker named Zandulal (Paresh Rawal) and the people are baying after the latters blood. Making good their escape with Zandulal after them with the clues he has found, the trio encounter incompetent cop Arjun Singh (Anil Kapoor),a zero whose mediocrity has turned wife Kajal (Sushmita Sen) into a psycho who turns violent for 10 minutes every day. Kajals sis Sanjana (Kangna Ranaut) thinks that she is the most beautiful girl in the world and both these psychologically-unbalanced women are daughters of a caricature-like Commissioner of Police (Shakti Kapoor).
The fortunes of this group get intertwined with international criminal Marcos (Suniel Shetty) and his motley gang, complete with a man who shoots whatever the gang does with a camera! The focus soon shifts to a small pack of jewels and the film is supposed to be a rollercoaster crime caper with a comic base.
But theres the problem: comedies need stories, and this one, despite this sketchy plot, really does not have one. A string of gags, mostly unfunny, many disconnected,do not make a movie! Bazmee seems overconfident despite the descending fun-graph of his three hits No Entry,Welcome and Singh Is Kinng and there are maybe five or six occasions in the entire movie where you momentarily chuckle. What happened, sir? And what price that unnecessary and completely uncalled-for dig at America?
The tasteless blend of supposed comedy with violence soon leads to ennui. The post-interval fare is so excruciatingly unfunny that you just wait to watch how nonsensically they end the film. You also pray that this happens soon and it doesnt! The climax is the worst part of the film, with an appalling waste of resources.
The music and background score are nothing more than a barrage of cacophony. The locales are not exactly eye-pleasing in their starkness and DOP Bobby Singh does not help matters by giving morose shades to the film. And what can any editor do with the messy matter at his disposal? But for Neetu Chandras eye-candy (never mind if she has no role) looks and attire there is nothing even superficially attractive in the film. Kangna simply does not jell with comedy but we will wait to see what she does in a comic film with a proper script. The other actors without exception go through the motions.
No Problem is a shocker from Bazmee. Is this the man who wrote riotous films like Aankhen (1993) and Coolie No.1 and also directed Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha and Deewangee ?
One star for the gutsy producers who actually believed in this project.
