The CBI has failed to connect former UP minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya with the March 2 murder of DSP Ziaul Haque. After more than a month of investigation into the triple murders, including that of Balipur pradhan Nanhe Yadav and his brother Suresh, the CBI has not found evidence of “direct or indirect” involvement of the Kunda MLA with Haque’s murder.

Raja Bhaiyya was named in the FIR as a conspirator by Parveen Azad, the widow of the slain officer. He resigned soon after. Later, another complaint was lodged by pradhan’s brother Pawan alleging Raja Bhaiyya’s involvement in the pradhan’s murder.

The CBI stopped probing Raja Bhaiyya in Haque’s murder after they arrested Nanhe Yadav’s son,his brothers Phoolchand and Pawan, and an associate Manjit Yadav last week, sources said. It is,however, still investigating his role in the conspiracy behind pradhan’s murder. The MLA’s drivers,Sanjay Pratap Singh alias Guddu Singh and Rohit Singh, aides Nanhey Singh,Rama Saroj,Kunda zila panchayat chairman Gulshan Yadav and his local representative Hariom Shanker Srivastava are also being probed.

The call details of 45 people, including Raja Bhaiyya, have also been scanned. But the CBI has not found any clue indicating Raja Bhaiyya’s involvement. There is just an allegation that he had threatened the pradhan’s brother Pawan when he called Vinod Saroj,an Independent MLA who had visited the pradhan’s family.

Pawan had alleged that Raja Bhaiyya’s aides had been harassing the pradhan and his family since 2003. But,he failed to produce any evidence backing his allegations, sources said.
