Its been more than nine months since he was released on bail from Lucknow jail, but Vijay Dubey, who was arrested by Lucknow police for the murder of chief medical officer Vinod Arya in 2010,has not been able to gather enough courage to meet his employer and ask for his due salary. Prior to his arrest,Dubey worked as a computer operator at a medical store.
Dubey,29,was discharged by the court of special judge here on Monday, after the CBI,which had taken over the probe from the police following Allahabad High Court order, gave him a clean chit.
I have not met my employer. I do not have the courage to face people there and seek my dues or request them for re-employment. I will search for a job. I do not know if somebody will give me one, says Dubey sitting with his parents at his house in Vikas Nagar. He is relieved that the court has discharged him,but is uncertain about his future.
We have been running from court to jail for the past two years and have no one to hold guilty for our ordeal, says his father Raghunath Prasad Dubey (70),who used to work as a driver. He says that he would like to go to court so that those who falsely implicated his son can be punished.
Dubeys mother Urmila says the family was planning to arrange the marriage of Dubey and his sisters, but now all that seems like a distant dream. Our lives remained stuck in this case. As his father is a heart patient,I used to go to jail to meet him and be present in the court whenever he was produced there. The main source of our income is my husbands pension of Rs 7,000. My older son works for a company and has wife and child to support. We could not pay the telephone bill and our connection was cut in 2011, she says.
Dubey says he was picked up on December 11,2010 while returning home after work; he was taken to a police station and beaten up. His parents searched for him till he was produced in the court on December 13,he says. Dubey says his only connection with the case was that Ajay Kumar Mishra, who was arrested for Aryas murder, was his friend. The police claimed to have found a country made firearm from Dubey.
Dubey says that Mishra used to work as a bus conductor and had asked him to apply for the same post. There was no evidence against me. After my arrest, the police came to my house and claimed to have recovered a pistol, he says.
The police had also arrested Amit Dixit alias Annu, his brother Sumit alias Anshu and Abhay Singh who is now SP MLA for the murder. The police said they had planned Aryas murder behind the bars and had assigned the task to contract killer Sudhakar Pandey who took Mishra and Dubeys help.
