No bollywood to counter JLO

Petroleum minister M Veerappa Moily faced an unlikely opponent in Jennifer Lopez during his visit to Turkmenistan for discussions on the TAPI pipeline. Lopez was performing for the Turkmenistan president on his 56th birthday. The show was organised by China National Petroleum Corporation. Exasperated over the Chinese maneouver,a suggestion came from a senior Cabinet minister to counter Lopez with a famous Indian singer. The suggestion was immediately shot down given the absurdity of comparison between the two.

The race for the first chairperson of the proposed Women’s Bank seems to be hotting up. Arundhati Bhattacharya,MD and CEO of SBI Caps is now understood to be another contender for the top job. Till now,Usha Ananthasubramanian,executive director,Punjab National Bank was seen as the front runner for the job. Significantly,Bhattacharya is also understood to be in the running for the top job at State Bank of India.
