Samsung’s much talked about smartphone — Galaxy S4 — has finally been unveiled in India. Despite its delayed entry in the market,Samsung Galaxy S4 is worthy of attracting many smartphone buyers thanks to a host of unique features.

The smartphone is not entirely a new device, but an upgraded version Samsung’s successful flagship device —Galaxy S3. Features like Air Gesture,Smart Pause,Dual Shot, gives Galaxy S4 the edge over its predecessor.

Air Gesture allows users to browse through photographs and music without touching the screen. The front camera detects motion of your palm and sifts through pictures, music and webpages. Hover your finger over a photo album or an email and Air View feature provides a preview of pictures and emails. Smart Pause controls the screen by sensing if you are looking at the screen. It pauses video when you aren’t looking at the screen and resumes when you are.

Another interesting feature is WatchON which converts Samsung S4 into a universal remote control. It is comforting to use a smartphone rather than a long bar with multiple buttons.

Samsung Galaxy S4 has a five-inch full HD AMOLED display. It has an “octa-core” processor which is a combination of two quad-core processors (1.6GHz + 1.2GHz) operating in tandem. It runs Android Jelly Bean OS,2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory expandable up to 64GB via microSD slot. S4 has a 2600mAh battery that lasts over a day. The smartphone has a 13-megapixel rear camera with zero shutter lag and 2-megapixel front camera that allows full HD recording.

Samsung also introduced several effects for enhanced camera experience. Dual Shot allows both cameras to function simultaneously. The feature inserts a stamp-sized image taken from the front camera onto the one clicked by the rear camera. S4’s Drama Shot puts together shots taken continuously in a single image.

Samsung Galaxy S4,priced at Rs 41,500 is set to challenge the likes of BlackBerry Z10,Apple iPhone5,HTC One,Nokia Lumia 920 and Sony Xperia Z as it hit the stores in Delhi,Mumbai,Bangalore and Hyderabad on Friday. Samsung said the smartphone will be made available across the country thereafter.
