The CID,which is investigating the Satyam fraud,arrested two top officials of auditing firm Pricewaterhouses Hyderabad branch on Saturday. Chief Relationship Manager S Gopalkrishnan and Engagement Leader T Srinivas were picked up by the CID after they were questioned briefly on Friday. The two will be produced in court on Sunday.
They have reportedly told the investigation team that Satyam founder B Ramalinga Raju had asked them not to ask unnecessary questions and follow his instructions.
PricewaterhouseCoopers operates as Pricewaterhouse in India.
Additional Director General of Police,CID,A Siva Narayana said: They are conspirators in the fraud and crimes committed by Raju. They knew very well what was going on and were a party to it. They suppressed information when they should have been questioning it.
Calling the detention unfortunate, a PwC spokesperson said: We regret that two of our partners have been detained. We have not seen any evidence of any wrongdoing by them.
