NDA to demand discussion on Naxal menace

NDA constituents will demand suspension of Question Hour in both Houses and call for a discussion on the Naxal menace in the wake of the Dantewada massacre that claimed 76 lives,when Parliament resumes for Budget session on Thursday. At a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Party executive on Wednesday,the BJP reiterated the need to evolve a consensus in crushing the menace and it was decided that the issue be taken up for discussion in the two Houses. While Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley are likely to be among the lead speakers on the issue in the two Houses,Yashwant Sinha is likely to initiate the discussion on BJPs behalf,in the Lok Sabha.

The matter also came up for discussion at the NDA meeting,held at the residence of the NDA working chairman L K Advani,on Wednesday.

The purpose of Maoist violence and jihadi terrorism is to overthrow the Indian state,bring Indian democracy to an end and dismember India as a nation. The only response to Maoist violence is to crush it, BJP Parliamentary Party chairman L K Advani said in Karnataka on Tuesday. BJP partner JD U said they would also talk about the alienation angle while discussing the issue.

The NDA will give a notice in both Houses tomorrow to demand suspension of the Question Hour and ask the government to issue a statement on the Maoist violence which is assuming dangerous proportions, said Deputy Leader of the BJP in the Rajya Sabha S S Ahluwalia after the meeting,
