NCP men try to assault Pawar attacker

A group of about 25 men,who were shouting slogans in support of Sharad Pawar,tried to assault the man who had allegedly slapped the Union Minister of Agriculture

A group of about 25 men,who were shouting slogans in support of Sharad Pawar,tried on Friday to assault the man who had allegedly slapped the Union Minister of Agriculture on Thursday.

The incident happened inside the Patiala House courts complex on Friday morning,as 27-year-old Harvinder Singh was being taken to the lock-up after his remand hearing. He was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days by Metropolitan Magistrate Jasjeet Kaur.

The day began with about 10 men,who claimed to be activists of Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party,blocking the road near the main gate to the court complex. They assembled on the court premises later.

Shouting slogans,the men charged as the minister’s attacker emerged from the courtroom. Police managed to keep them at bay.

Incidentally,Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga,who had attacked lawyer Prashant Bhushan recently,was present on the court premises.
