Over 250 armed ultras from the outlawed CPI (Maoist) set ablaze 11 cement-laden trucks at Dehri-on-Sone in Rohtas on Thursday. However,no casualty was reported. The Naxals had given a 24-hour bandh call against the alleged torture of their jailed comrades in Bihar,Jharkhand,West Bengal and Orissa.
The incident took place at around 2.30 a.m. on Thursday between Tumba and Ranjeetganj when armed guerrillas stopped the trucks coming from the Kalyanpur cement factory at Banjari. They forced drivers and cleaners out of the Rohtas-bound trucks and torched it.
Rohtas deputy superintendent of police Mithilesh Prasad said,As the incident took place in the wee hours,there was no police deployment along the route. The ultras are suspected to be hiding in Kaimur hills. Additional Director General of Police Neelmani said raids had been on to nab the ultras. The local administration had asked the Banjari-based cement factory not to transport cement during nights.
In another incident,suspected Naxals blew off a telephone tower of a private mobile company at Migra village under Dumaria police station of Gaya on Thursday morning.
