Mustard oil prices traded lower by Rs 50 per quintal in an otherwise steady wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on subdued demand.
However, other edible and non-edible oils moved in a narrow range in scattered deals and settled around previous levels.
Activity remained extremely restricted after a rise in freight charges by 15 per cent across the country following the hike in diesel prices by the government yesterday.
“Prices of edible oils and other commodities are likely to go up in coming days as truck owners will pass on burden of hike in diesel to customers,” a wholesale oils trader in the national capital said.
