A day after his name figured on the list of MPs who had not utilised their MPLAD funds,Dushyant Singh,BJP MP from Jhalawar, met Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to give a notice for breach of privilege against officers who were responsible for not updating his MPLAD records.
Dushyant claimed he had been utilising all his MPLAD funds in accordance to rules and the information provided to the Lok Sabha by the Statistics and Programme Implementation Ministry in response to a written question was incorrect.
The Ministry had on Thursday informed the Lok Sabha about the utilisation of MPLAD funds of each MP for the last three years. Dushyant was shown in the list as having spent Rs 38.5 lakh out of the Rs 6.5 crore released to him between April 2009 and March 2012.
The MP on Friday met MoS for Statistics and Programme Implementation Srikant Jena to protest the incorrect figures and handed details of all the works sanctioned by him from MPLAD quota. He said if the officers concerned had failed to update the records or not sent in the utilisation certificates,he must not be held liable.
Jenas response in Parliament had revealed that a number of MPs failed to spend a single penny out of their MPLAD funds over the last three years.
