Barely seven days after American designer Marc Jacobs — also creative director for Louis Vuitton — wore a black lace dress (from Comme des Garcons spring menswear 2012) with white boxer shorts for the Met Ball by the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the garment is reportedly sold out.
This despite Jacobs being slammed for being one of the worst dressed celebrities at the event. “It’s just a lace dress; I didn’t want to wear a tuxedo and be boring”,Jacobs had commented when onlookers paused for more than a few moments to take in his appearance which included a clutch and black pilgrim shoes (from his own Fall 2012 collection).
The big question is: will Jacobs-inspired male celebrities now walk the red carpet in a variety of lace dresses holding clutches?
Our homemade hunk Arjun Rampal should certainly try the look, even if his beefy body on a recent cover of a men’s magazine is partly Photoshopped.
