Targeting Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi for saying that the existing conditions in Uttar Pradesh make him angry,Chief Minister Mayawati on Saturday asked why the yuvraj of Congress does not get angry when the people of UP and Bihar face harassment in Congress-ruled states like Maharashtra and Delhi, and when Dalits get uprooted in Mirchpur village of Haryana.
She said instead of indulging in vote-bank politics,Rahul should make attempts to bring down rising prices, but such things do not make the Congress yuvraj angry. Being an MP from UP,he should also persuade the Centre to release funds for various projects in the state, she said.
Mayawati was speaking at the inauguration of the UP Viklang Uddhar Dr Shakuntala Misra University,on the outskirts of Lucknow. She dedicated the university, named after BSP MP S C Mishras mother,to her late grandfather,Mangal Sen,who, she said, had joined the Army and served in Italy during World War I.
The CM also launched several projects, including three power projects. By our efforts,we will be able to provide full electricity to people by 2014 and change the pitiable conditions which we inherited from the previous governments, she said.
Claiming that while the 38-year Congress rule in UP had only seen deterioration in the conditions of Dalits, backward classes and minorities,Mayawati said the party, with a history of corruption and crime, was now calling her regime jungle raj. She said the charges of corruption were a political conspiracy to defame her government. Mayawati also attacked the BJP,Samajwadi Party and religious babas who were taking out yatras in the UP. Claiming that Opposition parties were using the yatras to malign her party, she said their next step would be to rope in film stars from Mumbai.
