A division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Thursday stayed a single bench order which had directed the Air India to pay compensation of at least Rs 75 lakh each to the families of 158 victims of the 2010 Mangalore air crash.
The stay was granted after the Air India challenged the verdict. The division bench of C N Ramachandran Nair and P S Gopinathan observed that there was no legal ground for the single bench verdict. However,it said, the victims kin have a right to get adequate compensation. The court asked Air India to discuss with the victims families to reach an agreement.
