Even though JusticeA K Ganguly is yet to explain his stand on the findings of the three-member panel appointed by the Supreme Court for investigating the sexual harassment allegation against him,West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has once again demanded his resignation from the post as chairperson of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission “at the earliest”. She had earlier written a letter to the President of India urging him to take action against Justice Ganguly.
On Friday evening,Banerjee in Facebook said she has already written two letters to President Pranab Mukherjee requesting him to take “urgent necessary action” to remove Justice Ganguly from his office at the “earliest”.
“Yesterday,I had written to our Honorable President requesting him to take appropriate action urgently against the former Judge Ashok Kumar Ganguly for his alleged misconduct. Today,it is reported in the media that the three-judge Panel of the Honorable Supreme Court has indicted him,prima facie,guilty of the charges levelled against him. On this basis,I have sent another letter today to the Honorable President of India for taking urgent necessary action,so that Shri Ganguly is removed from his office at the earliest.” This is her second Facebook post on the topic.
While contacted over phone,Justice Ganguly said,” I have read everything in the newspaper today. I have not yet decided on submitting my resignation letter.”
