The prime accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts,Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur,is reported to have suffered partial paralysis to the left side of her body. She has been in custody since October 2008 and is facing charges under MCOCA. Her illness could affect the NIA probe in Hindu terror cases.
NIA officials said Pragya was admitted to a Bhopal hospital late last night where she suffered a severe stroke. Her counsel had moved court seeking bail for treatment but it was opposed by the NIA.
Pragya was brought from Mumbai to Bhopal last year for the murder trial of former RSS worker Sunil Joshi. The jail authorities said they cannot hospitalise her without her consent. Officials said Pragya is learnt to have visited a local hospital for treatment in the past.
