Following Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement,a life-size statue of the master-blaster was unveiled at a temple in Bihar’s Kaimur district Tuesday, while a Muzaffarpur lawyer lodged a case against the cricketer and the Prime Minister over conferring of the Bharat Ratna to the cricketer ahead of hockey legend Dhyan Chand. The lawyer contended that Sachin’s “unexpressed willingness to receive” the highest civilian award and the Central government “bending the rules” formed the basis of his case.

Muzaffarpur lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha lodged the case against Sachin Tendulkar,Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Jitendra Singh.

He told The Indian Express: “I do not mind people calling me a publicity seeker, but the way the Central government changed rules and by-passed Dhyan Chand for the highest civilian award merited a case against all those involved in getting Sachin the Bharat Ratna”. The case, which will be heard by a chief judicial magistrate court on December 10,was registered under IPC sections for fraud, criminal conspiracy and hurting public sentiments. However,Sachin mania continued as Bhojpuri singer and actor Manoj Tiwari got a 5.5 feet marble statue of Sachin Tendulkar installed at the Atwalia village. Kaimur District Magistrate unveiled the statue that shows him carrying the World Cup trophy.

The singer said he had placed the order for the statue five months ago.

The temple would be constructed at the singer’s ancestral property over a plot of 6,000 square feet.
