The newest entrant in the phablet segment is HCL Me Connect 2.0,a 7-inch Android Jelly Bean tablet that supports voice calls. The resolution is low at 800×480 pixels. The tablet’s cameras — 2-MP on the back and a VGA on the front — are medieval. It has 4 GB internal memory (expandable by 32 GB). Those looking for 3G connectivity will have to use a USB dongle. Users will only be able to access the internet on 2G speeds via the SIM card.

Soundlink Mini is the pocket-friendly member of Bose’s Soundlink family of speakers. At 680 grams,it is surprisingly light for a device with such good sound quality. The speakers feature full-range audio and were able to reproduce different genres of music without distortion. Soundlink Mini can pair with six devices via Bluetooth and users can play music from one device at a time. The price is Rs 16,200 and it will be available from August. Bose also launched AE2w wireless headphones for Rs 19,013 and Quietcomfort 20 in-ear headphones with active noise cancellation for Rs 22,388. AE2w has been optimised for iPads and iPhones. It can pair simultaneously with both and it lets you receive calls on your iPhone even when you are watching a movie on the iPad. Bose Quietcomfort 15 is arguably the best pair of noise-cancelling headphones in the market. Having refined the technology in the over-the-ear headphones segment,Bose has now introduced it in the in-ear category.

PC manufacturer Lenovo launched a range of smartphones last week. Top of the line is Lenovo K900,a 5.5-inch smartphone that runs Android Jelly Bean and has 16 GB memory (expandable to 48GB). The rear camera is 13 megapixels and there is a secondary 2-megapixel camera on the front. The aluminium body gives Lenovo K900 a premium look and it is thin (6.9 mm) and lightweight (162 grams). The resolution is impressive (above 400 pixels per inch). Other smartphones launched were Lenovo P780,S920,S820 and A706. The P780 has a 5.3-inch display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. This phone’s thickness is 7.9 mm. Lenovo says P780 is unique because of its long battery life,thanks to the 4,000 mAh battery.

The tablet looks good on the spec sheet,but may be a bit too expensive at Rs 24,990.
