Kunchacko Boban, popularly known as Chackochan, who had once been the teenage sensation in Malayalam cinema and is now known for playing mature roles, will play the hero in Babu Janardhanans Bhakthiprasthanam.
Janardhanan, who has earlier scripted notable films like Achchanurangaatha Veedu,Vaasthavam and Thalapavu, made his directorial debut last year with Bombay,March 12. The film, which was based on the Bombay blasts of 1993,had Mammootty in the lead. He was seen in different get-ups in the film that was a sensitive portrayal of contemporary life and had won critical acclaim. It wasnt a commercial success, despite Mammoottys presence.
However, the box-office debacle of his debut film has not deterred Janardhanan, who is working on Bhakthiprasthanam.
Says the director,In 2007,many fake swamis and spiritual leaders were either arrested or attacked by people and their shams were busted. Most of them had a traumatic past and battled psychiatric issues too. The protagonist in Bhakthiprasthanam is one such character.
Suraaj Venjaramoodu plays a double role (a father and son) while Jagathy Sreekumar also has a pivotal role in the movie. The other cast members are yet to be finalised.
