Security personnel Sunday lobbed over 20 grenades at a suspected Maoist hideout in the jungles of Kumandih. But the assault yielded little result as Maoists did not fire back. Police sources said DGP Rajeev Kumar was on the spot as the attack unfolded.
Kumar Saturday had led the police team in the forest. He returned in the evening and announced a Rs 2-lakh cash price for 180 personnel who took part in the operations.
He also gave Rs 500 each to 18 families living in the nearby village,the police said. Personnel from Jharkhand Armed Police,Jharkhand Jaguars and Latehar district police were involved in the operation.
