The Jammu and Kashmir government has failed to come up with a consensus candidate for the post of Chief Vigilance Commissioner.J-K High Court dismisses petition against DGP Khoda
The government has proposed the name of Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda for the post. And even as the Opposition walked out of the meeting that was convened to discuss the issue, the government has finalised the list and sent it for Governors assent.
At Srinagar,as the meeting for the appointment of CVC and two commissioners started,Leader of Opposition Mehbooba Mufti questioned the process. The Supreme Court in its guidelines has said that it is not necessary to appoint a bureaucrat for the post, she said. As the government proposed the name of the outgoing DGP,Mufti vehemently opposed it,and walked out.
We opposed his appointment primarily on three grounds. First, his name has come up in the Bhaderwah triple murder case… He has been responsible for execution of government policies which resulted in civilian killings… he has failed to play his part in high profile custodial killing of Syed Yousuf, said PDPs chief spokesperson Nayeem Akhtar.
