In 2008,if one crossed Kirori Mal College (KMC) in the afternoon, the sounds of drums and guitar riffs could be heard. Jester was at play a band of five boys from KMC they performed across Delhi University in their first year, graduated to venues such as Hard Rock Cafe and are now being counted as one of the pro-acts in the city. Five years later, vocalist Dhruv Goel, guitarist Pranav Pahwa, drummer Shantanu Sudarshan, bassist Akshay Dwivedi and keyboardist Harshit Jain are finally releasing their debut album. Titled Myth & Fables, the six and half-track album will be out on April 13,as Jester performs at Blue Frog. Most bands write about love lost and found, but our songs are stories of our age, says Pahwa.
The song that truly defines the band is Sepia that is an electro-pop-rock number. Then there is Big Bad Wolf,a track with some very eclectic layering of guitar riffs.
The album is harmonically complex with a lot of textures. Each song has about 100-130 tracks,20-22 layers of guitars and 25 layers of keyboards. Though there are only six songs, its still an album and not an EP,purely because of the kind of work that has gone in its making, says Pahwa.
