JD(U) leader from Saharsa Chandramani Prasad allegedly beat up a minor boy on theft charges and hit two nails into his sole on Wednesday night. A video featuring the victim clearly showed nails marks on his sole.
The incident invited sharp reactions with RJD chief Lalu Prasad saying that its time we hit nails on the government. An embarrassed JD(U) criticised the incident and ordered a party-level inquiry.
Prasad heads the business cell of the partys Simri Bakhtiyarpur cell. The police said the incident took place when 13-year-old Laloo Kumar Yadav had gone to Prasads mobile shop and the JD(U) leader alleged that the boy stole a mobile phone from the shop. Prasad allegedly detained the boy, confined him in a room, and beat him. The boy later told local news channels that Prasad tied him with ropes and hit two nails into his sole. I had done nothing and was only standing near the shop, he said showing his injuries.
Simri Bakhtiyarpur police station in-charge Ravindra Kumar Yadav said: Cases have been lodged from both sides. While Prasad has lodged a theft case against the boy,the boys family has registered case of beating against Prasad.
Saharsa SP Ajit Kumar Satyarthi said: We cannot say with conclusion about the injury marks. We have sent him to a hospital and will go by the doctors version.
No arrest has been made so far.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad said: How can someone hit nails into a minors sole? We will put nails into the government through a public movement.
JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said: If the incident is true,it is very inhuman on the part of the JD(U) leader. But he must not be under an impression that he can get away.
