A Jamm & Kashmir court on Monday sentenced three accused to life imprisonment for murder of a person while he was offering azaan at a local mosque six years ago.
Principle sessions court Shopian on Monday sentenced the three to rigorous life imprisonment with fine of Rs 50,000.
The three convicts,including a father son duo,were convicted for murdering a person when he was offering azaan in 2007, police prosecutor said.
The convicts have been named as Abdul Rashid Wani,Sajad Ahmad Wani residents of Heerpora,Shopian,and Rafiq Takad of Rajouri. The murder case against them was registered at Shopian police station soon after the body of Yaseen Wani was recovered in 2007 from a mosque.
The three were convicted on October 8.
The prosecution succeeded in establishing the charge against the accused who had allegedly assaulted the victim when he was offering azaan in a Masjid on June 1,2007.
