Jairam offers 1 per cent of ministry funds to Panchayat Raj

Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh has offered to donate one per cent of the budgetary outlay of his ministry to the Panchayati Raj Ministry to assist the development of panchayati raj institutions across the country

Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh has offered to donate one per cent of the budgetary outlay of his ministry to the Panchayati Raj Ministry to assist the development of panchayati raj institutions across the country.

With outlay for rural development,which includes allocations under Departments of Rural Development,Land Resources,and Drinking Water and Sanitation,for the 2012-13 fiscal at Rs 99,000 crore,Ramesh’s offer means a financial support of Rs 990 crore to the Panchayati Raj Ministry which has an outlay of only about Rs 300 crore.
