In Pune, the Parivar comes out in support of Ramdev’s protest

There were a few politicians who gathered at the spot for supporting us.

On day one of yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s protest fast against corruption, the Sangh Parivar and other organisations came out in his support in full strength. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its sister organisations like the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP),Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and also the radical Hindu outfits like Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Janjagruti Samiti made common cause with Baba.

About 500 persons, including members of the various organisations and some local BJP leaders, gathered at the Swatantryaveer Savarkar Smarak on Karve Road around 10 am on Saturday for supporting the ‘protest’ being organised in Delhi.

Yoga teacher Vinayak Raikar of Bharat Swabhiman Nyas, convenor of Ramdev Baba’s protest camp in Pune, said,“The response was overwhelming. We had expected that 20 persons would sit on fast-unto-death,but the number has gone up to 50,which also includes 10 women. Besides, members of about 25 organisations and local citizens,of whom majority are youths, have participated in the relay hunger strike at the camp.”

Asked about participation of BJP leaders,Raikar said,“As a policy we have decided not to take support from any political party. There were a few politicians who gathered at the spot for supporting us. But it was individual support and not political.”
