Hasan Ali chargesheet: Why werent we told,asks SC

The government found itself on the backfoot with the SC on Thursday questioning the EDs move to file a chargesheet against Pune-based businessman Hasan Ali Khan in a case of alleged money laundering without informing a government-appointed high-level committee set up to monitor such cases.

A bench of Justices B Sudershan Reddy and SS Nijjar wondered why the agency did not mention that the chargesheet was to be filed two days later on May 6 before a Mumbai special court. We heard the matter on May 4 but there was no mention in the status report, the bench asked.
