Gujarat: Leader of Oppn suspended for session

This comes a day after 19 Congress MLAs moved a no-confidence motion against the Speaker after he sought an apology from Gohil.

Leader of Opposition Shaktisinh Gohil was on Friday suspended from the Assembly for the entire Budget session after he refused to tender an apology over his remarks on the alleged nexus between the Modi government and the Adani group.

This comes a day after 19 Congress MLAs moved a no-confidence motion against the Speaker after he sought an apology from Gohil.

After the Question Hour,Minister of State (Law and Parliamentary Affairs) Pradipsinh Jadeja moved a motion against Gohil on the grounds that the Congress leader did not tender an apology as per the Speaker’s order of Wednesday. State Forests & Environment Minister Mangubhai Patel supported the motion,following which Speaker Ganpat Vasava moved it for voice vote and it was passed with majority.

The Opposition will now be led by Deputy Leader of Opposition Mohansinh Rathwa in this session.

Gohil said to the media,“Modi and Adani have looted the state. Adani is selling land given to him for Re 1 for Rs 15,000,and Modi is travelling in Adani’s luxury plane.”

Vigilance raids on Karunanidhi security officers

Chennai: Vigilance officials on Friday raided the premises of three security officers of DMK president M Karunanidhi here over allegations that they had caused “losses” to the Tamil Nadu Housing Board in land allotment under the discretionary quota method.

The residential premises of Pandian,a DSP and Inspectors Vinothan and Ganesan were searched,a release from Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption said. The trio had in 2008 allegedly “misused their official position,” to apply for housing plot under Mogappair zone of TNHB ,it said.

However,even before the order for the allotment was received,they had allegedly put it for a private person’s use for Rs 19 lakh.
