In a surprise choice, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has been roped in as a member of the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE),the apex educational advisory body that includes the HRD minister, state education ministers, noted academics and other eminent persons.
While CABE was reconstituted in 2012,some new members were nominated last month to replace original members who opted out.
Kashyap, fresh from the success of The Gangs of Wasseypur, has been nominated by the HRD ministry through a notification dated February 15 as a member representing creative arts. Each member serves a term of three years.
Kashyap will replace noted filmmaker Shyam Benegal who is said to have declined citing prior commitments.
CABE is the highest educational forum that discusses all major national educational policies ranging from the Right to Education Act to the common entrance test to replace JEE,education bills and major schemes.
