Govt may export wheat stock

Reeling under the mounting foodgrain stocks that far outstrip the storage capacity of the country,the government is examining the possibility of wheat exports from the government pool to liquidate its foodstock.

“We are looking at export of wheat from our stocks. There are some countries like Uganda,a few Gulf nations,Afghanistan and Pakistan who need wheat,” Food Minister K V Thomas told reporters here on Thursday.

Cash-for-votes: Police file reply

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Thursday told a court here that it had made every effort to unearth the money trail in 2008 cash-for-vote scam in keeping with the directions of the Supreme Court and denied allegations of “interference from the Central executive”. The police were replying to the allegations made by one of the accused in the scam,former BJP MP Faggan Singh Kulaste.
