Saying the RSS had made it clear that it supported all anti-corruption movements, former BJP ideologue K N Govindacharya said on Thursday that at least 10 per cent of the crowd at Ramlila Maidan were swayamsevaks. However,he dismissed allegations of RSS backing.
As Arvind Kejriwal said earlier, any movement in urban Indian is said to be backed by the RSS and any movement in rural India is said to be the handiwork of Naxals, said Govindacharya, who met Anna Hazares team members at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday.
Criticising the BJP,he said: The BJP should have played a stronger role at the all-party meeting. If it is so keen to fight corruption, why doesnt the party set up effective Lokayuktas in the states under its rule?
Saying that his conscience does not allow him to ask Hazare to break his fast,Govindacharya said,I will try to mediate between the two sides to ensure that the trust deficit is resolved, and his demands are met.
Govindacharya said while he had been among the crowds in this movement,he decided to make a formal appearance today.
Compared to many other movements,I think this is the most spontaneous, and it has grown even bigger than J Ps movement in the 1970s.
