A JD-U legislator on Saturday complained to the police that he got an SMS and a call to pay Rs 1 crore in 10 days or face death. The demand came hours after firing at his house Friday night,he said.
Ram Balak Singh,who has lodged a case with the police,said,I got a call at 10.27 am today asking me if I checked my SMS. The caller used abusive language telling me to take the threat seriously.
Singh said the SMS,sent at 4.20 am,asked him to pay Rs 1 crore within 10 days or face death. Singh,who had also lodged case for firing at his house against three local CPM leaders,suspected involvement of same persons.
It is nothing but political vendetta. Bibhutipur used to be CPMs fortress till I won the seat in last Assembly election. I have requested Speaker,CM and DGP to increase my security, said the MLA.
SP Varun Kumar said they are taking the case seriously. The caller switched off the mobile after the case was lodged, said the SP.
Murder accused lynched in Bihar
A man who was trying to escape after allegedly killing the mother of a witness in a murder case was lynched by a mob at Dalsingsarai,Samastipur in Bihar on Saturday.
Mantu Paswan was an accused in the murder in January of local CPM leader Surendra Prasad Yadav. Mantu,40,came looking for Kundan Paswan,a witness in the case but could not find him. He then opened fire,killing Kundans mother Chano Devi,60,and injuring his brother Lalan.
Villagers caught Mantu and beat him with iron rods and sticks till he was dead.
