A teenaged girl was found shot dead in a room of an ashram owned by former MP Sakshi Maharaj in Farrukhabad district on Friday. A youth, who was staying in the rented room and was reportedly last seen with the girl, has been named as accused. Farrukhabad Superintendent of Police K N Singh said the police were yet to interrogate employees of the ashram.

Singh said Ragini Rajput (20),a resident of Shyam Nagar locality and a teacher with a local missionary school, was last seen walking into the room with her boyfriend Sandip’s “close friend” Neeraj Rajput at the ashram in Kotwali area. The SP said the room was hired by Neeraj a few months back.

CO (City) Arvind Kumar said the police had received an anonymous call about a girl lying dead in the ashram. Ragini’s blood-soaked body was found lying in Neeraj’s room. She had sustained bullet injury in the right armpit.

He said primary investigations revealed that the girl had an affair with Sandip who was presently staying in Mumbai. A search is on for Neeraj.
