Gehlot yatra highlights good work done by UPA

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is busy doing some ground work for his party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is busy doing some ground work for his party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. In the two days that he toured as many as six districts Tonk,Bhilwada,Banswara,Dungarpur,Rajsamandh and Pali Gehlot missed no opportunity to talk about the UPAs dedication towards farmers and the below poverty line (BPL) families, and the success of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS). While inaugurating a bridge,a Panchayati Raj organisation, unveiling the statue of Rajesh Pilot,Gehlot also stressed on the fact that his government was working tirelessly towards the uplift of the poor, and that proper water supply was high on his agenda. The CM is obviously satisfied with the response he has got so far,as more such tours are being planned prior to the next Assembly session, due February-end.

For squabbling,21 BJP office-bearers lose their jobs

The BJP seems to have learnt its lesson regarding infighting that reportedly led to its defeat in the Assembly polls. The party has taken disciplinary action against more than 100 workers, including former health minister Bhawani Joshi. Senior state and national-level leaders believe that infighting was the main reason for the partys defeat and in a bid to send a clear message to the entire state unit, the state BJP leadership removed 21 office bearers and served notices to 20 others. The party high command has sought explanations from these workers within 10 days.

Rajes woes: yet another scam comes to surface

Former CM Vasundhara Rajes name has cropped up in yet another scam. On Thursday, the Hanumangarh Chief Judicial Magistrate, acting on a petition filed by Srikrishna Khukkad, directed the police to probe into an illegal land allotment charge against Raje. Incidentally,it was the same petitioner who had filed charges against Raje and several senior BJP MLAs in the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Trust land scam. The state government-constituted N N Mathur Commission, probing into corruption charges against the BJP regime, also held its first meeting on Thursday.

Cabinet closed,no new ministers till Lok Sabha polls

The Cabinet expansion has been postponed yet again this time till the Lok Sabha polls are over. The Rajasthan Cabinet has only 13 ministers, with the Chief Minister holding close to 40 portfolios. Initially, senior Congress leaders had stated that the Cabinet will be expanded after the passing of an inauspicious fortnight. Later, they said that the exercise would take place after Congress president Sonia Gandhis visit on February 3. Now,with the Assemblys budget session slated to begin on February 26,few believe that more ministers will be sworn in before the Lok Sabha polls. Senior Congress leaders,on condition of anonymity, say that a rift between Gehlot and PCC president C P Joshi, who lost the Assembly elections by one vote,is the main reason behind this delay. However, both the leaders have denied any such report.
